5 Tips For A First Time Home Buyer
TIPS FOR FIRST TIME HOME BUYERS
1.GET YOUR LOAN PRE- APPROVE
GET YOUR LOAN PRE-APPROVE BEFORE CHECKING OUT HOMES. This way you’ll know financially what you can afford and you’ll not waste your time drooling on homes and can’t make an offer. Some Cities in California offer “first time home buyer program” to those who qualify. But others like me and my spouse went to our trusted lender and got a loan.
2. INTERVIEW REAL ESTATE AGENTS BEFORE HIRING THEM.
Make a list of Realtors you know. Search Zillow, Realtor.com, and Yelp etc. Read reviews and narrow it down to 5 Real Estate Agents. Contact the Agents you like and meet them in person before hiring. Feel their vibe and ask questions. This way you’ll know their personality and why they are in the Real Estate business. Hire only the ones looking out for your best interests. HIRE FULL-TIME REAL ESTATE AGENTS. Why? Because their commitment to finding your future home is 100% It’s their career for heaven's sake.
3.UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS
A few things first time home buyers should know;
Escrow takes about 30-40 days
NO NEW LOANS, CREDIT CARDS during the process of buying a home.
There’s an out of pocket expenses like INSPECTION & TERMITE FEES FOR REPAIRS (if applicable)
4. KNOW YOUR PRIORITIES
Need over wants is the key. Know what you need at the moment, square footage or school district? Location maybe? Those things you need to consider, a good Realtor will gather all the information about the homes that meet your criteria and needs. But sometimes it’s all up to the buyers and their decision. As for me the school district and turn key is my priority.
5. DON'T GET STRESSED OUT
The right home will come and you'll find it. Buying a home is an emotional roller coaster. Be prepared for offers that will get rejected. Every buyer’s experience is different, some will get their offers accepted at first try and some don't. Communicate very well with your Realtor, act fast if you really want the property.
